The past 12 months have been very significant in the life of Monkstown YFC, most notably in terms of personnel and finance. From September 2004 Neil Harrison became the first full-time Centre Coordinator/Youth Worker for MYFC. In addition, James McAlister and Brittany Girtman have been placed with MYFC on their LIT programme. This staff team is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the management of the organisation in terms of planning, youth work delivery and administration.

In terms of fundraising, MYFC has been abundantly blessed. In March 2004 we set an ambitious budget of £24,000. This year we have received income of almost £35,000! This has come through a range of small grants, monthly donors and successful fundraising activity.

This year we have increased our evenings of operation to 4 per week. Our successful Schools Programme has continued offering one-to-one mentoring to young people aged 11-16 as well as assemblies, SU’s and lessons. In terms of outreach we hosted a Summerserve team and saw many young people significantly challenged about God. Not forgetting prayer, we have recently established a multi-sensory prayer room in the centre where anyone can come to experience God.

Much change lies ahead for the future as we implement a 3-year vision and strategy for the organisation. Our needs are still great in terms of finance and resources. Perhaps our greatest need is for people to come on board and volunteer their time, for a range of tasks, to see God’s kingdom advanced in Monkstown!
