This has
been a year of change for Enniskillen
Youth for Christ. We came out of two
years of having Y-1 teams working with us
in our schools and centre, Eden. After
being unsuccessful in our application for
a team for year 3 (2004/05), we had to
look at what we could and should do.
However, that was not meant to be.
At our AGM
four new adult members and new young
members were elected and we decided, at
our first proper board meeting, that we
should look at what we can do and how we
should operate.
We
arranged a series of three vision nights
facilitated by David Stanfield of
Youthlink. After much discussion,
dreaming and prayer, a set of values
emerged and the direction that became
clear was that we would investigate and
aim towards building community amongst
our young people. At the moment we are in
the middle of exploring how this will
look and work.
Mannafest
in Enniskillen has continued to be the
cornerstone of our ministry. It enables
our young people to serve (they do
everything at the event except the
speakers role). It is a terrific
blessing to the young people who attend
to have the opportunity every month to
worship God in a contemporary way and
hear from first-class teachers and
preachers.
Some of
the over 18s have started a Friday
night event at the centre which ties in
neatly with our community vision. It was
on their own initiative and is very
encouraging with 20-40 young people
attending regularly.
We are
celebrating our 10th
anniversary here in Enniskillen and it is
great to see how God has blessed us in
the past and we know that while we are
spared, we will continue to worship Him
and serve Him here until He calls us
home.
