This is my third or fourth attempt to write a report for Dungannon YFC over the last year. I’ve been trying to work out where we are and how we have got here– It’s not easy and I’m not sure what the answers are. I’ve tried to think of the best way to present all that’s happened and have decided to just start with the basic facts.

Our centre co-ordinator for the past four years has been Debs Erwin. She did an excellent job running the centre. Sadly last October Debs was forced to take sick leave due to a stress-related illness. In April she subsequently resigned her post to get a clean break, and we wish her well for the future. This left a long period of uncertainty over that six-month period, which was further increased when our second worker, Leanne Fehr also gave her notice just before Christmas. We are very grateful to Robert Cuthbert, who has taken on the role on a temporary basis until the summer. Oh and to top things off our Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and another committee member are standing down at the AGM, all for valid reasons I must add!

Although we as a committee have been focusing on these issues the work among the kids of Dungannon has gone on. We have had to reduce the work for a while, but God is still working in their lives. In particular a small group of girls is meeting to discuss issues relevant to them- please pray for them as they discuss these things.

As for the future, I think we are going back to basics, and as Stuart Hamilton, National Director says, “Youth For Christ does exactly what its says on the tin”, and that will be our guide over the coming months. The need in Dungannon is greater than ever and we still have good support from many local Christians, but we need more people with a passion to see the youth reached, to serve on the committee, volunteer and pray- only then can we go forwards again.
