The year
2004 was a very special year for the
ministry of Dromore Youth for Christ. Our
new year began in April with the election
of the new Board and Chairman. There was,
at the time, tremendous expectation and
hope for the year that would be, full of
God’s blessing and goodness.
Our year
kicked off with a very memorable water
sports weekend. That weekend we had 12
young people join us. At the time only 2
were believers and followers. By the end
of our year 11 of the 12 had committed
their lives to Christ and follow Him
today.
Many other
young people have come to know Jesus as
their Saviour over the last 12 months.
God has shown Himself to be the God who
saves. The impact of this has not only
been felt within our centre and ministry
but has rippled out through the streets
and communities of our towns and through
our churches. God is good.
This year
we placed a high value on volunteers and
the importance of their development. We
held training days and developed a
pastoral care team to encourage and
support our volunteers as they engage in
ministry to the youth of our town. Our
volunteer team has grown not only
numerically from 10 to over 30 but it has
grown spiritually and the average age has
come down more in line with the age of
the young people.
God has
also shown Himself to be faithful as He
has continued to meet our financial needs
and also blessing us with extra so that
we can resource our ministry, volunteers
and centre.
Other
highlights this year include an all
expense paid trip (God picked up the tab)
for a team of 10 volunteers to attend the
Youth Ministry Conference at Willow Creek
Church in Chicago USA, hosting a
Streetreach Team, massive growth in our
Schools Ministry and the finances coming
in for our third worker.
All in all
a full, busy year surrounded by the
goodness of God.
